Technical Information

All components are precision machined and trimmed: the walls having a tongue and groove profile with interlocking corners, giving a perfect weatherproof and draught proof finish. The construction method, and natural properties of the timber means that there is no need for any further work after erection; other, of course, than normal decoration and maintenance.

Staying true to original construction methods and producing comprehensive instructions, means that some of our smaller buildings come in component form and can be easily erected on a simple hard standing by a competent DIYer.  If preferred,  we can provide you with a full construction service from our highly trained team.

Log cabins have a very long lifespan, but to increase the longevity of a Cabinco building still further, we design with the main structural element of the cabin on the interior to ensure that this is not subject to external weathering or any other physical damage which may occur during the cabins long lifespan.

Our Log Cabins are delivered to your door* fully protected and separated into individual packages comprising floor/walls/roof, allowing unwrapping in stages as construction progresses. ALL timber in ground contact is Tanalith "E" pressure impregnated Pine. Whilst the timber specification and construction methods endow our buildings with very long lifespan, they are all available, as a customer specified extra cost option, with the upper structure treated using clear LOS based preservative: suitable for over staining in the colour of your choice.

All models come with fully double glazed doors and windows as a standard feature; making them suitable for year round use as home office, guest accommodation, or a peaceful holiday retreat. Similarly, the solid timber construction affords excellent natural thermal insulation, and creates an environment virtually free from condensation. Insulation packs are a feature of some models.

Roof coverings are available in a variety of finishes with Metro tile as the Cabinco standard. Each tile has a steel core and acrylic coating with stone embedded granular surface giving a high level of aesthetic satisfaction, and to blend in easily with the surrounding buildings. Available in a choice of colours. For further details see the website

For development of sloping sites, the Timbalok crib walling system is available on either a supply only, or fully installed basis. Please ask for more details.

Planning consent and/or any other permissions / licences are the sole responsibility of the buyer. Advice should be sought from your Local Authority. All goods with the exception of the gazebos are sold exclusive to VAT which will be charged at the rate ruling at date of invoice.  A copy of our full terms and conditions of trading is available on request.

Building Regulations & Planning

Information about the Building Regs that affect log cabins.

Cabinco Log Cabins are extremely warm and energy efficient and benefit from both natural and additional insulation.  However the advent of the revised part L building regulations which came into force on 6th April 2006 has changed the way insulation levels are calculated.  The new calculation, which has to be submitted whether it be brick/block/steel or timber construction, is the Carbon Dioxide emission rates of the building.  What this is essentially doing is taking into account the heating and lighting systems which are being proposed together with the amount of natural light from windows and the orientation to the sun.

Consequently, in order to meet building regulations, there is an new calculation for every building.  For turnkey projects this will be organised for you and for self managed projects we can put you in touch with a company who specialise in this work.  For further information please contact EAS - Energy Assessment Solutions

Acoustics Management

The log buildings Cabinco create are often places of work or education where a quiet environment is required.  Therefore we have employed acoustic management specialists Acoustic Design to assist us to ensure that our timber buildings can be properly insulated against sound travelling where required.  Thereby giving our clients peace of mind that their building will be right from the start.
